Push (Salesflow → CRM)
Push integrations send contact data, engagement events, and message history from Salesflow into your CRM the moment a selected outreach event occurs. This is what keeps your CRM updated automatically without relying on manual input.
There are 2 types of triggers in Salesflow: primary and secondary.
What Are Primary Triggers?
Primary triggers are outreach events inside Salesflow that cause a push to happen. These events represent meaningful activity in your campaign, and they determine when a contact is sent, or updated, in the CRM.
A contact can be created or updated in HubSpot as long as they have either an email address or a LinkedIn URL.
Primary triggers include:
- Member connected
- Member replied
- Invite sent
- Follow-up sent
- Invitation withdrawn
- Tagged as lead
- Profile visited
- Open InMail sent
- Email sent
- Email replied
- Email opened
Every primary trigger produces a corresponding labeled CRM note, such as:

Primary triggers control both the first push and all subsequent pushes for that contact. Every time one of these events occurs, Salesflow syncs relevant data to the CRM.
First Push Logic
The first push occurs the first time any primary trigger fires for a contact. This push is the most comprehensive because it establishes the initial CRM record.
During the first push, Salesflow sends:
- Contact fields:
- First Name
- Last Name
- LinkedIn URL
- Company Name
- Location
- Phone Number
- Email
- Imported Email is sent if present
- If not, the standard Email field is sent
- Occupation
- A “Pushed to CRM” label with a timestamp.
- An engagement note labeled according to the trigger (e.g., INTEGRATION_REPLY).
- Historical messages include every message exchanged from the campaign’s creation up to the moment the trigger fires, each added as an individual CRM note containing:
- Timestamp
- Sender
- Message text
- If a list has been selected as part of the integration setup, the contact is also added to that list during the first push.
Subsequent (2nd+) Push Logic
Every primary trigger that fires after the first push results in a subsequent push (not to be confused with secondary triggers). These pushes are lighter because the CRM record already exists.
Subsequent pushes:
- Add new engagement notes for the latest event
- Update only empty CRM fields (never overwriting existing data)
- Do not resend historical messages
- Maintain clean, incremental updates to the CRM
This ensures your CRM evolves with each interaction without disrupting previously stored information.
Note:
- Push can send contacts either to a Static List or to All Contacts (no list).
- If an email exists, Salesflow follows the established priority rule: Imported Email is used first; if no Imported Email is available, the standard Email field is sent.
- Push logic applies only to Salesflow → CRM syncs; Pull operates differently and does not use triggers.
What Are Secondary Triggers?
The secondary trigger handles one job: syncing new inbox messages after a contact has already been pushed to the CRM.
It does not create push events, and it does not affect first or subsequent pushes.
Once enabled (and only after the first push has occurred), Salesflow monitors the conversation thread and sends every new message, manual or automated, to the CRM as an individual note.
Each synced message includes:
- Timestamp
- Sender
- Message text
This gives your CRM a complete, ongoing message timeline without manual copying or logging.
Note:
Secondary triggers:
- Do not send contact fields
- Do not resend historical messages
- Only work for contacts who have already been pushed
- Remain disabled until at least one primary trigger is selected
Real-World Example For Push Action In Salesflow
To see how Push works in practice, imagine you’re running a LinkedIn outreach sequence in Salesflow, and you’re engaging with a prospect named Maya.
Here’s how her CRM record gets built automatically, without you touching anything.
1. You send Maya a connection request
At this point, nothing is pushed unless “Invite Sent” is one of your selected primary triggers. If not, Salesflow simply waits for the next event.
2. Maya accepts your connection
You selected “Member Connected” as a primary trigger.
This is the first time any trigger has fired for Maya, so Salesflow performs the first push.
Your CRM now receives:
- Maya’s contact details (name, LinkedIn URL, job title, company, location, email if available)
- A “Pushed to CRM” label with a timestamp
- An engagement note: INTEGRATION_MEMBER_CONNECTED
- All historical messages up to this moment, each added as its own CRM note
- Maya added to your selected HubSpot list (if configured)
Maya’s record now exists in the CRM with full context.
3. Maya replies to your follow-up message
“Reply Detected” is also one of your primary triggers, so this creates a subsequent push.
Salesflow updates her CRM record by:
- Adding a new engagement note: INTEGRATION_REPLY
- Filling in any missing fields (e.g., if phone or location weren’t captured earlier)
- Not overwriting existing CRM data
- Not resending historical messages
The CRM is now fully aware of this new engagement.
4. You have the Secondary Trigger enabled
Because Maya has already been pushed to HubSpot once, the secondary trigger can be applied to her (provided you manually enable it in the integration settings).
From this point forward, if you choose to activate the secondary trigger, every new message, manual or automated, syncs into your CRM as an individual note.
Each new note includes:
- Timestamp
- Sender
- Message text
This builds an ongoing conversation timeline in your CRM.
5. Maya’s CRM record becomes a complete thread of the relationship
Across your interactions, your CRM now contains:
- Maya’s complete profile
- Historical message history (from the first push)
- Engagement notes for every meaningful outreach event

Pull (CRM → Salesflow)
Pull integrations bring new contacts added to the CRM into Salesflow so they can enter your LinkedIn outreach campaigns automatically. Unlike Push, Pull does not use triggers or engagement events. Instead, it syncs whenever a new contact appears in a configured HubSpot list.
When you connect Salesflow to a HubSpot list, Static, Active, or All Contacts (no specific list), Salesflow watches that list for new entries.
Whenever a new contact is added to your selected list:
- Salesflow checks if the contact has a LinkedIn URL
- If yes, Salesflow creates a new member in the assigned Salesflow campaign
- The contact is now ready to receive outreach inside Salesflow
Pull integrations follow three simple requirements:
- The contact must have a LinkedIn URL in HubSpot
- Only newly added contacts in the selected list are pulled
- You can connect a Pull integration to only one Salesflow campaign (due to Salesflow’s no-duplicate rule across campaigns)
When a contact is pulled, Salesflow maps fields from HubSpot into its own contact fields:
- First Name
- Last Name
- LinkedIn URL (required)
- Company
- Location
- Phone Number
- Occupation / Job Title
Salesflow does not update HubSpot during a pull; it simply creates a Salesflow member with the mapped fields.
Real-World Example For Pull Action In Salesflow
Imagine your sales team is capturing inbound leads in HubSpot, and a new prospect named Daniel is added to one of your HubSpot lists.
Here’s how he moves into Salesflow automatically using a Pull integration.
1. Your team adds Daniel to a HubSpot list
Daniel fills out a form, attends a webinar, or is added manually by your team. He now appears in:
- A Static List or
- An Active/Dynamic List, or
- All Contacts (NONE)
Salesflow is watching this list.
2. Salesflow checks requirements
Pull requires that the contact must have a LinkedIn URL.
Daniel does, so he is eligible for import.
If he didn’t, Salesflow would skip him until that field is populated.
3. Salesflow automatically imports him into a campaign
The moment Daniel appears in the connected list, Salesflow:
- Creates a new campaign member
- Places him inside the specific Salesflow campaign assigned to the Pull integration
- Maps his HubSpot fields into Salesflow:
- First Name
- Last Name
- LinkedIn URL
- Company
- Location
- Phone Number
- Job Title
4. Daniel is now ready for LinkedIn outreach
Since he’s now a member of the selected Salesflow campaign, Daniel automatically enters whatever workflow you have set up.

How to Connect Salesflow to Your CRM (Quick Setup Guide)
Setting up Salesflow’s native integration takes only a few steps. Once configured, Salesflow keeps your CRM and outreach aligned automatically.
1. Go to Integrations → Native Integrations
From the left panel in your Salesflow dashboard, open the Integrations section and click on Native Integration

Click “Add New Integration”.

You will be prompted to give your Integration a name. Do that, and click “Next”.

2. Connect your HubSpot account
A pop-up window will appear. Make sure your browser allows pop-ups so the authorization completes successfully.
Note: You will need to have your LinkedIn account connected to Salesflow in order to create the HubSpot integration.
3. Choose the integration type: Push or Pull

Push (Salesflow → HubSpot)
- Select the primary triggers you want HubSpot to receive. You can optionally enable Track new messages of triggered members (secondary trigger) at the bottom, too.

- You can attach multiple campaigns

Note: Push requires the contact to have either an email or a LinkedIn URL
- Map the values.
Match Salesflow fields to HubSpot fields, including:
- First Name
- Last Name
- LinkedIn URL
- Company
- Location
- Phone Number
- Occupation / Job Title
Salesflow uses Imported Email first, then Email if the imported field is empty.

Pull (HubSpot → Salesflow)
- Select “Pull” from the integration type; no triggers required

Pull works with Static Lists, Active Lists, or All Contacts
- Attach any one Salesflow campaign (no duplicates across campaigns)
Note: Contacts must have a LinkedIn URL in HubSpot to be pulled into Salesflow
- Map Values.

Once saved:
- Push integrations start listening for selected triggers

Best Practices for a Clean, Centralized System
A centralized workflow only works if the data flowing between Salesflow and your CRM stays clean, consistent, and structured. These practices help ensure reliable syncing and prevent unnecessary issues.
Avoid duplicate integrations
Creating two Push integrations pointing to the same HubSpot account can cause duplicate CRM updates. Keep a single integration to maintain clean activity logs.
Map fields carefully
Make sure essential fields, especially Email and LinkedIn URL, are mapped correctly. This ensures contacts can be created or updated without errors.
Enable message tracking if you want complete conversation history
If you want every new message added to the CRM, turn on Track new messages of triggered members. Without it, only engagement notes and historical messages (first push only) are synced.
Use HubSpot lists intentionally for Pull integrations
When pulling contacts into Salesflow, choose lists that match your targeting. Static, Active, and All Contacts lists all work, but they determine which contacts enter your outreach campaigns automatically.
